SCC Part of Counties for Career Success Initiative
The Lancaster County Board is pleased to announce that Lancaster County and three local leaders have been selected for a national program on career readiness. Across the country, eight counties, including Lancaster County, were chosen for the . The program recognizes the important role counties play in streamlining pathways to higher education and employment.
Sara Hoyle, Lincoln-Lancaster County Human Services Director, Dylan Wren, American Job Center Workforce Administrator, and Marguerite Himmelberg, Southeast Community College Office of Work-Based Learning Executive Director, will participate in a year-long peer learning cohort, including discussions with national subject matter experts, visits to successful programs in peer communities, and development of an action plan to create lasting impacts on the local education and employment landscape.
Lancaster County Board Chair Christa Yoakum shared, “Participating in NACo’s C4CS initiative provides Lancaster County and its workforce partners with an opportunity to actively engage in discussions, planning, and collaboration to foster an inclusive workforce where all our residents are able to thrive.”
The C4CS initiative is designed to leverage the unique position of counties, which operate at the intersection of post-secondary education, workforce development and human services. By fostering cross-systems collaboration and strategic coordination, county governments can play a pivotal role in connecting residents with family-sustaining jobs that meet local industry needs.
The culminating action plan will be the result of collaboration between Southeast Community College, American Job Center and Lincoln-Lancaster County Human Services, empowering residents by providing them with the necessary resources and support to access quality education and meaningful employment.
By leveraging the expertise and experiences of NACo’s C4CS initiative, Lancaster County stands to gain practical guidance on engaging partners, building infrastructure, and learning from successful models. This guidance will be invaluable in our efforts to align workforce activities, foster collaboration, and ultimately enhance job outcomes for our residents.
